What is a Virtual Finance Director?
A Virtual FD provides the same strategic financial leadership as a full-time FD — management accounts, cash flow, board packs and commercial advice — on a part-time, outsourced basis. Senior expertise for a fraction of the cost.
Do I still need my existing accountant?
Usually yes — and we work alongside them. We handle management accounts, forecasting and strategic finance while your accountant covers tax filings and compliance. The two services complement each other perfectly.
How is this different from hiring a full-time FD?
A full-time FD costs £80,000–£120,000 per year in salary alone, plus NI, pension, benefits and management time. The Virtual FD gives you the same calibre of expertise for a predictable monthly fee — no employment risk, no notice period.
We're a startup with no proper systems — can you help?
Absolutely — that's often when we add the most value. We'll set up your cloud accounting software, build your reporting templates and get your financial foundations right from day one.
How much time do you spend on our business?
Typically 2–4 days per month on Foundation, 4–6 on Growth and 6–10 on Strategic. You always have a named FD — not a junior — who knows your business and is available when decisions need to be made.
Is there a minimum contract term?
We ask for a 3-month initial commitment so we have time to understand your business and deliver meaningful results. After that it rolls monthly — no long-term contracts, no exit fees.
